چکیده

The notion of removable classes arises in connection with ear decompositions of matching covered graphs introduced by Lovász and Plummer. The last (single or double) ear of an ear decomposition is defined as a removable class. Every matching covered graph not induced by a circuit has at least three removable classes. In this paper, we characterize matching covered graphs with precisely three removable classes and show, as a corollary, that every non-planar matching covered graph has at least four removable classes. Let G be a matching covered graph. A matching covered subgraph H of G is conformal if G − V H has a perfect matching. Given S ⊆ EG, what is a minimal conformal subgraph of G that contains S? It is known that if |S| = 2 then it is induced by a circuit. As an application of the main result, we answer this question for |S| = 3.

On Perfect Matchings in Matching Covered Graphs

Let G be a matching-covered graph, i.e., every edge is contained in a perfect matching. An edge subsetX ofG is feasible if there exists two perfect matchingsM1 andM2 such that |M1∩X| 6≡ |M2∩X| (mod 2). Lukot’ka and Rollová proved that an edge subset X of a regular bipartite graph is not feasible if and only if X is switching-equivalent to ∅, and they further ask whether a non-feasible set of a ...

A Polynomial Time Algorithm for Recognizing Near-Bipartite Pfaffian Graphs

A matching covered graph is a nontrivial connected graph in which every edge is in some perfect matching. A matching covered graph G is near-bipartite if it is nonbipartite and there is a removable double ear R such that G−R is matching covered and bipartite. In 2000, C. Little and I. Fischer characterized Pfaffian near-bipartite graphs in terms of forbidden subgraphs [3]. However, their charac...

Removable Edges in Near-bricks

For a brick apart from a few small graphs, Lovász (1987) proposed a conjecture on the existence of an edge whose deletion results in a graph with only one brick in its tight cut decomposition. Carvalho, Lucchesi, and Murty (2002) confirmed this conjecture by showing the existence of such two edges. This paper generalizes the result obtained by Carvalho et al. to the case of irreducible near-bri...

Matching Integral Graphs of Small Order

In this paper, we study matching integral graphs of small order. A graph is called matching integral if the zeros of its matching polynomial are all integers. Matching integral graphs were first studied by Akbari, Khalashi, etc. They characterized all traceable graphs which are matching integral. They studied matching integral regular graphs. Furthermore, it has been shown that there is no matc...

The augmented Zagreb index, vertex connectivity and matching number of graphs

Let $Gamma_{n,kappa}$ be the class of all graphs with $ngeq3$ vertices and $kappageq2$ vertex connectivity. Denote by $Upsilon_{n,beta}$ the family of all connected graphs with $ngeq4$ vertices and matching number $beta$ where $2leqbetaleqlfloorfrac{n}{2}rfloor$. In the classes of graphs $Gamma_{n,kappa}$ and $Upsilon_{n,beta}$, the elements having maximum augmented Zagreb index are determined.
